Mood Swing or Bipolar Disorder?

This illness results in major distinct mood fluctuations that usually associates with certain types of behavioral changes such as hypomanic episodes, major depressive episodes, mixed episodes but is considered a bipolar disorder or manic depression.

There is no happy ending, so don’t take this trip with someone you care about if your not ready for the road ahead.

Some people with manic depression or bipolar mood disorder is really not restricted to a particular age group, though it usually starts during early adulthood and in late adolescence, so mood swings can be in children and elderly people alike. This is also including no particular race or class and sex, male or female it just has to be notified and treated with the proper medication. Bipolar disorders and manic depression is categorized under two types Bipolar 1 or Bipolar 2 disorder.

Bipolar 1 disorder can be characterized by ones elevated moods that can last a week, excessive talkativeness, off the wall ideas and decreased need for sleep etc. But Bipolar 2 is characterized a bit different which is a very depressive mood swing with at least one hypomanic episode, anger, attitude and can seriously ruin the social life of a patient because of the erratic mood swing changes.

Patients with this illness should never go untreated because it worsens their mental and physical condition to a large extent. Though it is advisable to consult with doctors immediately when there are sudden changes in mood start to occur. Also always remember that it is the friends and family of people with this mood swing disorder who can help him or her in overcoming the problem and you should encourage them to seek the help, therapy, medication and or treatment from a medical establishment related with a psychiatrist in mind.
